Production

Clothing doesn't just come from the mall or a company. No Enemy wants you to understand and be stoked on where your clothing comes from, what it is made of, how it looks and how it feels. Our favorite fabrics to use are hemp and organic cotton, all our cotton is 100% organic. Hemp and organic cotton can be cultivated in harmony with the natural cycles of soil, air and water. They don't require any pesticides, which are the number one water pollutant in the United Sates. Hemp and organic cotton need less energy and less contaminating chemicals than any other fabrics!

We think carefully about the farms that grow the seeds, the farmers that farm them and the processes and people turning these natural fibers into clothing.

Instead of chemical pesticides organic cotton is grown with beneficial insects like the lady bug in left photo which No Enemy Founder Paul Cheatham dispersed on an organic cotton field in California. Efficient machines harvest and pack cotton before it is sent to the gin to separate the choice cotton from the seeds and leaves. After the gin, cotton goes to a mill and is spun into thread. Thread is made into fabric and sent to a California factory either in the Los Angeles or San Francisco area where fabric is cut and sewn into clothing in a healthy working environment.. We bring color and designs to the clothes using eco friendly (PVC free) inks from Bay Area facilities.

Art/design is the keystone of No Enemy. The fusion of graphics and statements that promote the No Enemy mind set are brought forth by an inspired crew from Santa Cruz (Aimee Zvinakis & Paul Cheatham), San Francisco (Joey Shep), and Los Angeles (Jeffery Ault). No Enemy invites contributions from any corner of the earth! Give thanks for the abundance of beautiful art! The finished product arrives at No Enemy home in Santa Cruz and then to you! No Enemy delivers by bicycle to local shops and people!

Hemp is such a strong naturally growing plant it thrives without the use of pesticides and needs less water to grow than many other fibers. Hemp, as they say, grows like a weed. Hemp has all the environmental benefits of cotton and is the strongest natural fiber. Hemp requires less from the earth and gives back more! That is energy efficiency. Our hemp fabric comes from China but like all No Enemy items is manufactured into products in the USA. It is illegal to grow hemp in the USA but we are doing everything we can to make American Hemp the future of No Enemy.
